Pillar Candle Embellishment

A simple way to turn a standard pillar candle into something special and unique.

You Will Need:

• Pillar Candle (See Pillar Candle Making Instructions. Leave the wick a few inches long on the top.)
• Pillar Wax (Such as IGI 4625)
• Fragrance
• Dye
• Silicone Spray or Unscented Cooking Spray
• Cookie Sheet
• Cookie Cutter
• Wick Pin or Skewer

Instructions: 

1. Melt your wax in a double boiler, add your fragrance and dye, and mix thoroughly. Meanwhile, lightly coat your cookie sheet with some type of mold release agent such as Silicone Spray Lubricant.

2. Once your wax is about 175 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, carefully pour the wax onto the cookie sheet and allow it to cool slightly.

3. When the wax is about the consistency of cookie dough, use a cookie cutter to cut out shapes in the wax. The best way to do this is to gently press down on the cookie cutter until it touches the cookie sheet. Wiggle it around a little bit to create a bit of space in the wax around the shape. Remove the cookie cutter, leaving the wax on the cookie sheet. (Don’t try to remove the shape yet.)

4. Using a wick pin or skewer, poke holes into the center of each  wax shape and then allow the wax to cool completely.

5. When it is completely cool, you should be able to remove the shapes from the cookie sheet easily. If you have trouble, try placing the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 10-15 minutes and try again.

6. Carefully go over the top of your pillar candle with a heat gun until the top of the candle is slightly  melted. Thread the wick through the hole in the wax shape and press down firmly to adhere the two waxes together.

7. Trim your wick to about 1/4″ and enjoy!
