This twist on chunk candles is perfect for Valentine's Day!

See the Chunk Candle tutorial for additional help with this project.
You Will Need:
|
 |
|
1. Find an old baking sheet that can be used for wax. You may wish to coat it with a small amount of Silicone Spray or unscented cooking spray for easier removal of the wax.
2. Heat your pillar wax in a double boiler. Add color and fragrance as desired.
3. Pour the wax onto the baking sheet until it is approximately half an inch thick.
4. Allow the wax to cool until it is firm but still pliable, like cookie dough.
|
 |
|
5. Gently press your cookie cutter into the wax and move it from side to side until the entire heart is free from the wax around it.
6.You can remove the heart-shaped wax at this time, or leave it on the sheet until the wax is completely hardened. You may want to place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to make the wax more brittle and break the hearts out of the rest of the wax.
|
 |
|
7. Heat one side of your square votive holder with a heat gun and press one of the hearts against the inside of the glass until it adheres.
8. Repeat step 7 on the opposite side of the votive holder.
9. Wick the container as usual. We recommend using hot glue to secure the tab.
|
 |
|
10. Heat your container wax in a double boiler and add fragrance and color as desired. Tip: We recommend using no color at all or a very light color such as pale pink for more contrast.
11. Pour the container wax at 160 degrees F. This is the ideal temperature to prevent the hearts from bleeding or releasing from the glass while preventing jump lines.
12. Allow the wax to cool completely and trim the wick to about 1/4" inch. Enjoy!

Beautiful Idea...They are lovely.....
Those are so cool! Gotta try that tomorrow! Thanks
Very cute!!...Love that you always take the time to share your projects with all of us in complete detail...Thanks!!
cool idea.they are realy lovely.thanks very much
Great Idea. Thank you so much
Your company is one of the best I have ever dealt with, thank you fo much for giving great details on candle making !
A great companion to the heart embedded soap. I like the way the heart is melted to the side of the votive and the candle is then put around it. What a clever idea. This would look very elegant on the table at Bar/Bat Mitzvah or wedding celebrations.
Simple yet elegant, simply gorgeous :)
And thanks for the "secrets", too!
Most beatiful design.
What a great idea! I wonder if the same concept can be applied to pillars... something for me to find out tonight!
Thank you!
Such a cool idea! I can't wait to try it!
Can i do this with soy wax and make the heart out of the container palm glo?
Tried it out tonite and they turned out great. Only problem I had was getting the temperature on the side of the Votive so that the heart would adhere to the side.To Hot and it would slide down and bleed, to cold and you would get air pockets. Found out with trial and error a 14 second count on low on the heat gun was the trip.As soon as it had a grip I put a square ice cube and rubbed the front of the glass, cooling it quickly. Dont know if this was right on not but it worked. Peak Candles are the best! Cant go wrong here!
awesome idea
These look great when done. The only problem is you have to make sure the heart sticks completely to the glass with no spaces between the heart and the glass. If there are you will get wax inbetween the heart and glass, this doesn't look good. I tried melting the heart alittle before sticking on the glass, this seemed to work. Otherwise great idea they look great.
I made a few and had a problem getting the wax hearts to stick at first.
Played with it a bit and gto them to stay.
BUT....
when very nearly cooled.. just before complete solidification, one of the hearts fell in, while the other one stayed.
I used paraffin to make the heart imbeds and soy for the body of the candle in hopes that the temperature difference would be small enough to prevent this from happening.
It's too late to have them ready for V-Day this year, but I intend to keep trying.
Maybe if I can get it to work out, I can embed other little shapes throughout the year.
(And I even stooped to hot-gluing the wax embeds to the glass votive holder... doesn't work hehe)
great look and easy to make ........
it is so beautiful thx..
It is very beautiful............
I love your ideas and cannot wait to try this one too! Thanks for all the tips as well.
beautiful...i would try this tomorrow
These are great and can be made for multiple holidays depending on the shapes of your cookie cutters!
Wonderful! Can't wait to try them!

Hi
I am very very new to candle making - can you point me in the direction of anywhere I can find info to make my own molds - thanks for any help you can give me
Mary
These will be great gifts for Valentines day. There will be a lot of women that will be happy with this. The idea is so good.
I, too, love this idea. Just a quick question --- if you apply one heart on the inside of the holder, do you match with one heart on the outside? Would there be eight hearts in total or just four on the inside?
very pretty! I can't wait to try it for the upcoming Valentine's.
I like your all product are Super.
love the way you have done this. It is such a good system for someone to make candles that are unique.
I think that is part of any craft, being unique as it makes you feel like you personally have achieved something.
Hello Chris!
I wouldn't adhere any wax hearts to the outside of the container as they could be detached very easily and the hearts were only made to be embedded on the inside of the holders.
i got this site so very useful..i want to start my business in candle making..will try the techniques n ideas given here...
thanks :)
The outer shell is filled with pink chunks and gold mica and the inner heart is a low temp container wax scented Amber Romance.
