Introducing Palm Waxes
Check out the new Palm Waxes available from Peak Candle Supplies!
Peak Candle Supplies now offers a new line of Palm Waxes for making beautiful and unique container and pillar candles. These waxes are all-natural, made with 100% palm oils. Palm wax naturally creates interesting textures so that no two candles are exactly alike.
The Glass Glow Palm Wax for clear glass container candles produces a beautiful crystal-like texture visible on the sides of the containers as well as on the top of the candle. It is a low-shrink wax that usually does not require a repour except with larger sized jars or containers.
Both of the new pillar palm waxes are suitable for pillar or votive candles. The Feather Palm Wax creates an attractive “feathered” look, with its large, broad crystals. The feathers form in different sizes and shapes, creating a truly one-of-a-kind look. The other new palm wax is the Starburst Palm wax for pillars and votives. This wax creates beautiful “starburst” crystals that look like little fireworks all over your candle!
Tip: Try insulating your containers or molds with bubble wrap or a towel while your candles are cooling to create larger crystals.

Do you have an article on the steps involved in making pillar candles with palm wax?
Do you need to do anything special to make it look mottled, or does the palm wax do it by itself?
Thanks,
Nancy Wells
Hi Nancy,
The steps involved in making pillar candles with palm wax are the same steps that you would take to create pillars using any other type of wax. The palm wax creates the feathered and star-burst patterns on its own, when it has been cooled slowly. The crystalline appearance is unique to palm waxes.
Hope that helps!
Palm wax is just beautiful. So full of color and I just love the texture of palm wax also. It just screams high quality.
Do you have a suggestion for wick type in glass glow containers?
Hi Sharon,
We have tested the various wicks and have found that the RRD wicks work best with the Glass Glow Palm.
I hope that was helpful!
Do you use palm wax by itself or mix with soy?
Hi George,
Palm wax does not require any additives or mixing with other waxes. It can be used by itself.
Hope that helps!
What is it made from (Palm Trees)? How does it compare to soy wax in pricing?
How can I introduce Palm Wax with soy? Is Palm wax like like regular wax?
I am having a problem with my wicks on the pillars not burning down and can't be relit. Am I using the wrong wicks?
Thanks,
Rita
Can you use beeswax for container "jar" candles? I am a beekeeper and would like some really nice smelly jar candles.
I have been using paraffin wax but recently bought some soy wax from you. I was wondering if there are any special instructions for mixing the 2 waxes? I really enjoy using your products; the scents are simply amazing in comparison to any other available. Thank you so much for having such wonderful prices and products for all of us artisans.
What wic do you use with container candles?
I love the look of palm wax pillars, but is there anything that can be added to the wax (without affecting the crystal growth) that will keep the pillar from developing weep holes along the edges which allow the wax run out?
Palm wax is a lot like water freezing. It's either liquid or crystallized (frozen). There is no in between. It doesn't have a soft stage like paraffin so once those crystals break down, the wax liquifies. Palm wax pillars require a lot of babysitting when burning to make sure the wax pool isn't getting too close to the edges.
So my question is, can anything be added to palm wax to keep those weep holes from forming on pillars?
I have been making container candles with palm wax & love the way they look but am having a little trouble with "tunneling" in the candle where the wax stays on the walls and the wick sinks. What can I do to prevent this?
I am experimenting with palm wax, having used soy for quite a while. All the instructions I've found say the temperature of the palm wax will affect the size of the crystals, but not how it affects it. Does a cold jar and hot wax make larger crystals or does a hot jar and hot wax with a slow cooling make better crystals. Can you help with the right info?
regards
Frosa
AJ and Mary - I suggest experimenting with wick size - you're both having the same problem, only in reverse! AJ's are burning too wide, so too big a wick, and Mary's aren't burning wide enough, so too small a wick. AJ, with my palm pillars, I've actually found using a smaller wick and shorter burn times creates a tunnel on purpose, making more of a hurricane lantern and showing the crystals through. Light colours work better for this effect.
Frosa - I've found that palm wax won't make crystals unless melted and poured at around 90-95 degrees C. Even then, if cooled too quickly the wax also will not crystalise. Regarding making "better" crystals, I think you may have to continue with the experimenting and let us all know how you go!
do glass glow palm wax candles need to cure like soy does? can i use glass glow for pillars or only in jars?
