With the heat gun they were throwing strong.. So I think they will be great when I test them.. here is my list that I made........

Clean Cotten..Just what I was looking For Grin

Caramel Apple..WOW so strong.. Smelled this all day.. Shocked Shocked was really overpowering.. but loved it..

This was just topping the tops off with heat gun..

Must agree with Wayne on the Lemon Pound Cake. I don't smell any cake in it at all. That's not say it's not a good scent. It is a strong lemon and the throw is very good. I just don't smell any type of cake or pastry to it at all. I may mix it with a cake type FO and test.

That strange because I made a candle and test burned it and I smelt the cake equally with the lemon. All of my testers smelled the bakery notes too and two of them commented that they didn't care for it for just that reason! It's okay but it's not what I was looking for. I will make the sage/Lemongrass next. Then I will let customers decide!

Comments on the Cool Citrus Basil are back and though everyone like it okay, they thought it wasn't right for my candles. I thought it smelled soapy. so I really have to think about this one.

Comments on the Amish Harvest are very promising and was very well liked. I like this well myself. Will probably reorder but I think closer to the fall time. It will be great for some of the fall shows and a wondeful winter scent for the season. Will be reordering this in a large amount come late summer! Grin

Mango/Papaya. BIG HIT WITH EVERONE! In fact, the eight candles I made aside from the five testers are already sold out. Have already reordered and will have to reorder again after show next month! This will be a top seller!

Blackberry/Sage- Have yet to make the candles. Since I already carry a regular Blackberry that is very strong- I need to have customers decide which one they want me to carry.
Hyacinths~ Best floral I carry! HUGE hit with the customers! Everybody LOVES this scent! Have already reordered. The throw is strong and so real customers can't get over it! I LOVE it!

Well it could be a number of things, type of wick, FO amounts, type of soy, type of FO, There are just too many reasons for anyone to know why you arn't getting a hot throw. Not every Fo will throw in soy either. And usually I use 9% in soy where as only 5 or 6% in my J223.

Doc I am begining to wonder if it is the 415 wax I did make the samples from the dec batch.. I used the 12 ounce classic with the 60 cotten no dye .. heated as always poured at the slushy stage..in my back post I listed all of the testers that I made..the hyacinth was the light fragrance.. but not getting anything from the others .. smelt so good oob and when I took the heatgun to the tops.. but then after nine days no hot throw..
so I am now stumped..and I am sure on some of these that they are compatable with soy..

Peak's FO are fantastic, just wish they would enlarge Smiley
I have tried to many to name and use C3 with no problems hot or cold. EXCELLENT PEAK
The Lemon Pound Cake was just  like the name. I poured it and  BlueBerry Muffin one right after the other and I was starved after that  Grin.
IMO Peak's Fo are great.

Hi I am also new to this site and to soy candle making. I hear a lot about Peaks FO's I checked out the website and will order me some scents, but I was wondering if anyone has used any of their dyes. And are liquid dyes better in soy than chips or powder?

Hi dborah
I don't use dyes in my soy candles. I try to keep them as natural as possible.
Sorry can't help you with that.

Good luck and welcome to the forum

The dyes work beautifully in soy---just beautifully. They color deeply as well as lightly and I haven't noticed any fuel smells.

I use both Peak's dye chips and their liquid dyes in Ecosoya. Both work great and mix well whether it be pure soy or the blends (little discoloration like I have had with some dye chips - I did stop using brown chips though because I seem to get a funky white discoloration with those - so I went with the Coffee Liquid Dye and have no problems with it at all).

As far as scents go (and with the Ecosoya wax I use, no additives -  roughly 1.5 ounces of FO per pound of wax), I'm pleased with the results so far. Here's my current list/comments (keep in mind I'm just now switching over so I'm not done testing what I have):

AmishHarvest - Nice throw hot and cold.

Banana Nut Bread - Hubby says he can't wait until I run out of this one. True to the advertised description. Smells just like the real thing.

Black Canyon - Not really excited about this fragrance - Just smells a bit too "waxy" to me (used a different brand of dye chip so the problem may be in the chip, not the FO).

Cinnamon Buns - Nice cold throw - yet to test hot.

CleanCotton - Nice crisp scent good hot and cold throw.

CoconutBanana - Wonderful hot and cold throw.

CremeBrulee - Strong - Not a favorite, wrong person to evaluate this one Smiley

Cucumber Melon - Decent cold and hot throw but not as impressive as some of the others (even at 1.5 ounces per pound it was not as strong as I would have liked - great for people who like scents that are faint and not overwhelming).

French Vanilla - Wonderful hot and cold.

Freesia - Very good throw hot and cold.

Fudge Brownie - Smells just like the real thing hot or cold. Got a "mmmmmmmmm brownies?" from a friend who came in.

German Chocolate Cake - Not tested yet.

Ginger Passion - Not tested yet.

Hyacinth - Strong. Very good throw hot and cold (not a personal favorite though).

JamaicaMeCrazy - Nice and strong.

Love Spell - Excellent hot and cold. Turning out to be one of my favorites (and the hubby likes it too).

MandarinPlum - This is an incredible one for cold throw as well as hot. A definite "must try." The sample got me hooked!

MidsummerNight - Not tested yet.

MountainPine - Very nice cold throw (I use it on fire starters so can't really say how it would actually burn).

Ocean - Fantastic scent hot and cold.  Another "must try." I have yet to meet anyone who simply doesn't like this one when they pick it up.

Pink Sugar - Still deciding. It seems a little too weak for what I want, but still a good scent hot and cold.

StrawberriesCream - A Personal favorite. Can't get enough of this one. It has an absolutely wonderful hot throw and just as wonderful cold too!

SugarPlumBerries - Not tested yet.

SweetPea - Could be my nose, but this is the best Sweet Pea type I have found. When cold, it is identical to the BBW it's duped from.

VanillaPassion - Fantastic throw both hot and cold. I'm not a big fan of "Vanillas" but this one is a keeper!

Here is the short list of Peak scents I've tried. I used 100% soy, sometimes with beeswax and I usually do not color. Also, I used 1 oz. pp.

Sweet Pea- Wonderful! both hot and cold throw.

Love Spell- great cold throw, but I'm thinking I need up percentage to 9% to get the hot throw I like.

Mango Papaya- same as Love Spell

Cinnamon Buns- very good hot and cold throw at 1 oz. pp

Clean Cotton- same as Love Spell and Mango Papaya- all three of these scents are wonderful OOB and cold throw is good. I'm just not getting the hot throw I like at 1 oz pp.

Hyacinth- love this scent and had great cold and hot throw. It was my freebie.

Just want to say this review thread is great because it helps me decide which scents to try first! I figure I will eventually work my way through all of them, but I have to prioritize (sp?)!

Peaks Ocean scent is blow your doors off strong. I use Ecosoya and FO at 9%. I wasn't real impressed when I first made it but a month later when I lit it! WOW! [I waited a month because I didn't really like the scent when I poured it] Grin

I can help you with cinnamon buns.  I didn't find it over-powering OOB, but wonderful when burned.  Also, I only had two days of cure time before it was burned.  I poured more yesterday and I plan to cure these ones longer just to see what happens.
