I am a newbie also.  I am testing the 4627 as well and it does take quite a while to get a full melt pool.  I notice the color makes a difference also.  So I am back to the testing board.  But yeah, 5-6 hours for a full melt pool is about right for me also.  I am testing tins.

the 8 oz tins is what i am testing

This thread is actually for tried and tested wick, wax, size combinations. To eventually make a compiled chart of what work, someday, hopefully  Grin

Other comment/suggestions should be placed in a new thread on the general board  Wink
