Hello all, I see alot of us have wick issues. Maybe Allan Roll Eyes would help us get a wick suggestion heading just like the others on the left side under general info. Maybe we could add to this thread and say what wax we use and wicks. That way if we have any suggestions we could use that for a guide.
I use 4625 & 1343 3in round mold with 36ply flat
votives-CD4
containers classic jars
4627-4oz CD4 6oz CD8 9oz CD10
I am in testing on the 4x4 square mold and no luck with wicks yet. Looking for suggestions though. Happy Friday!

bumping this one to the top.  I agree with Cali, there are many new people having trouble with wicks and questioning wick sizes.  this would be a good way to have all the information out there without having to retype it everytime someone new comes aboard.

Thanks in advance everyone!

I am still in the testing stage, so no real input I can give. I did find this site to be very helpful.

OK, I think we can do it. Where did that darn to-do list go anyway? I'll look into some sort of solution to see if this can be passively maintained somehow. If not, then I'll just manually assemble it based on what comes up in this thread. Smiley

OH Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone!!  I am such a wick problem child!!  I did just do a test on my votives though and here are the results I got.
129 MP wax with 1/2tbs. UA per lb--- LX10 or 36-24-24P
Both burned for 16hrs in a 2oz votive and left almost no wax.  Well I conquered one for now!!!  yeeehaaa!

I too seem to be having problems with wicking......I see others use fairly close to the same formula as me and have good results but I can't seem to quite get it  Undecided

I do containers and so far, the container I really like is the 16oz elevation jars.  I'm also using a 4oz votive.  I've tried 4786, j300, j223 and now I'm using the 6006 wax.

With the 4786 wax, I've tried the 51-31-18z = small melt pool.  I didn't like how hard this wax was to handle.  So I went to the J300 and used a 60-44-18z wicks = still not a good melt pool...1/4" to 1/2" hangup.  So I tried the 62-52-18 cotton wicks = a better melt pool, not a full one tho and the scent throw wasn't very strong.  Next I tried the J223 that I got for a sample, scent throw was good but melt pool left 1/4" hang using the 60-44-18z's.  Got a full melt pool with the 62-52-18 cotton but still had a little hang up.  Now I'm testing the 6006 wax.  I like the ease of handling, hot scent throw is good, cold is ok, kind of weak, melt pool is good on the second test burn however, I do still get some hangup.  Is this normal?  The best size wick for the 16oz seems to be the cotton wicks.

In my 4oz votives I'm having to use the 60-44-18z's.  Get a perfect melt pool in these using the 6006 wax.

Sorry about the length of this posting but I was wondering, should I try the CD, LX or HTP wicks.  Don't know much about these or what size to start with.  I'm hoping someone could tell me what they would recommend?  Or am I being too picky with how my candles are burning?  PLEASE HELP! Huh

Alan, maybe you could do it like the Color Suggestions page?

This is just a hobby for me, and my days only have about 30 hours in them, so I have a very limited selection LOL:

6 oz. metal tins ~ IGI4627 ~ HTP73
8 oz. metal tins ~ IGI4627 ~ HTP83

I buy paper core wicks from the local arts & craft show, I normally wax the wick.  I haven't tried any others bec I don't know what the differences are.  I am doing molds/pillars.

This is a fabulous idea, thanks for starting it Cali - and for everyone participating. I've got a boatload of notes, but will add mine as I think of them:

Votives (paraffin blend):
CD4 and CD5 - sometimes I have to wick up to a CD6, but start out testing 4 and 5 together. 5 usually wins.
