It takes some practice, but are you poking some relief holes with a pin in your wrap? We shrink from the bottom, on the sides and then gleen the top (which I sometimes tear.)

After you seal the candle in the wrap, poke holes with a hat pin at random from the bottom to the top. Then center your candle in the bag and use the heatgun in a quick sweeping back and forth motion. Not too close, you'll get those unsightly holes. When you get a bubble or wrinkle, take a large wooden/metal spoon and use the back as a smoothing tool while the wrap is still warm. I would suggest shrink wrapping the pillar upside down so you don't have any ugly tops when your finished.

Def. poke some holes, w/o holes (if the product has all ends sealed by an impulse sealer). If it's just taped yu=ou're less likely to need holes as it's not airtight, but may be more likely to have a wrinkled uneven appearance. And size is important....if your shrink is too small you'll end up melting holes. If it's too big, it won't shrink enough and you'll have wrinkles and spots you can't get rid of. If you think you're in the right ballpark, sometimes just a bit more heat is all it takes. Practice practice practice!! Get your self some scrap whatevers....pillars, votives, whatever you shrink. Then do them over and over. Try different methods, top to bottom, bottom to top, closer heat or further away, etc. Diff. mil thickness will basically just alter the amount of heat it can take. There's really no simple explanation, you'll get the hang of it

I found this note in the Nashville Wraps Catalog not on their site. "100-gauge film is 33% stronger and more resistant to puncture than 75-gauge, 100-gauge is more forgiving when you apply heat, and has better holding power in baskets. 100-gauge shrinks at a lower temperature making it ideal for candy makers, soaps, CANDLES and other products that can't take the heat." So I would make sure that what you are using is 100-gauge. This may solve some of the problems you are having.
