Am I Looking for Something Impossible to Find?

I know, I know, I have WAY too many candles at my house!  I carry about 70 scents and like to keep several of each scent made up and on display instead of in boxes to make it easier to find the desired fragrance when customers come to my house.  I have some shelves in my "candle room" but need more space.

I'm looking for shelves sturdy enough to hold many pounds of candles (in containers), about 18 inches deep so I could line up 5-6 of each fragrance.  I've found many such shelving units at Wal-Mart and other places but they all have the shelves much too far apart to display jelly jar candles--way too much wasted space.

I'd like to have the shelves adjustable so I could space them however I wanted; therefore, I'd probably need to be able to buy shelves separately because most don't come with more than 4-5 shelves for a 6-foot-tall unit.  I'd really prefer not to have to build the shelves onto the wall.  Any ideas?

TIA,
Jane

I'd ask around...I'm sure you have a "handyman" living near you.  I would tell him/her what you want and have them draw up a plan...that way you can get exactly what you are looking for.  I know tons of woodworkers in my area that do stuff like that...check around ya! no shipping then!

Holding hand up!!!! Costco!! If you don't mind stainless steel......they have these awesome steel shelves. It's a 48" x 18"deep by 72" tall unit with 5 shelves, comes with casters. This thing is heavy duty, think each shelf holds like 250 lbs. or more, or something like that....$75. It's really a nice looking unit, I have one and will get another. Holds a TON of stuff.

I don't know if this would be strong enough, or would be a good option, but would something like a "shoe cubbie" be suitable?  If you check out the link to overstock.com, it has an example of something like what I had in mind.  You might be able to build a table/counter top model very inexpensively, and each compartment could hold a different scent of votive.

I bought mine at home depot, kind of reminds me of an erector set.
I bought extras so I could add shelves to the ones that we are using cause like most they come with just 5 shelves and as you said, to much wasted space.
Any how, I have 7 shelves in each, I have 2 racks with 26oz jar candles going 5 deep, 8 or 9 candles across. They cost about 99 dollars each, oh and costco has the same ones for about $6-$8 less. HTH

Here's my suggestion, purchase book shelves that are adjustable and you can buy more pegs and shelves at home depot and they will cut them for you to make more shelves on your bookshelf.

Example of this-

Ashleigh, I had considered your idea but can't find the handyman--and my husband keeps saying he could do it but doesn't "get around to it," so I decided to just buy something I can put together myself!  Or, more likely, once I get it there, he'll take over putting it together.

Mary & Blue Diamond, I'm taking hubby to Home Depot tonight to pick up his birthday present, so hopefully I'll get time to look there before we meet the kids for dessert.  Blue Diamond, I had thought about doing what you do and figure that's the way I'll go--just buy 3 sets to get the 2 I want!

Beth, Trejen, & Sarabi75--I only wish we had a Costco!

Soapmafia, that is a very nice looking unit but I don't make votives and don't think it would hold enough jelly jars to do much good!

CSAS--your display is fantastic looking!  That's another option I might pursue--I have one bookcase like that and didn't realize I could get extra pegs & shelves for it.

I sure hope I get to spend some time at Home Depot tonight!  Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions!
