Check List for Craft Shows

Providing everything works as planned, there is a craft show coming up in October that I would like to go to. Being that this will be my first one, would anyone be willing to give me a check list of stuff I might need? Other than my candles and stuff that I plan to bring, I know I will need: change, bags, boxes, business cards, brochures (if I can get any made!), table covering, possibly a table. What am I missing? I know there has to be more than this!

Thanks Amanda! I do have some risers and I have a book of receipts or something like that. I don't have a tent though but I am pretty sure they are having it indoors. Anyone think of anything else we might have missed?

What a great topic! Here are a few things I've needed: Extra price tags (if you use them) A big black marker (last minute signs or corrections) A lot of bags to put peoples purchases in Tacks, nails, string, & hammer can all come in handy (depending on where you set up) Scisors (OMG I forgot how to spell!) Maybe make a price list and/or fragrance list for the table. I've found that grouping the same candles together and making price cards for each works great. Water to drink (I'm constantly talking and can't always run off to get a drink) Maybe a lunch A calculator to add up purchases (my math is good but when someone is staring at me my brain freezes.) Paper to make notes about your show. (How it's going, what to bring next time, peoples remarks; good or bad) ***Also have a general idea of how you want to set up so that you don't spend forever doing it. Good luck and have fun!

Heeee, well, I just had to say it! But, believe me, the questions you asked were the things I think about most nights these days! I am anxiously awaiting that long list from CCC.

In my defense, anything I bring besides candles, risers table & chairs, fits into an old bookbag I have.

on Sep 6th, 2004, 11:40pm, EB Candles wrote: YES! Several of them - well, if you are like me and put them down. My daughter is always either handing them back to me or pulling them out of my ponytail! Extra price stickers. Those suckers fall off in the bubble wrap from time to time. I keep an extra sheet or two in my cash box. Adding machine that runs on either elec or batteries but that also adds the tax for you (most adding machines have this feature) be sure to keep your tape at the end of the day and mark it with the date. Just a little back up for yourself. Chalkboard - this is something I want for my booth. I want to have a place to write out maybe a special, a new fragrance, something like that. Actually, my cash box has a lot of little things - um, girl things, two pens, scissors, tape, that sort of thing. If you have hang tags be sure to take extra material to tie them on - twine, ribbon, extra cigar bands, whatever you use. Not a ton of them, but a few. Things sometimes get a bit messed up in transport. COMFY SHOES! A folding chair. If you have it, a small table for yourself, like a tray table. This way, you drink or the food you TRY to eat but never do because every time you pick it up someone walks into your area (but that is a GOOD thing) - this way, you don't have anything on your display. I have had to just about beat my children over putting stuff on the tables. They get it now. Lint brush for your table cloths. Hand sanitizer - walking away to wash your hands just doesn't happen often. Paper towels. Lots of ice and a jug of water - not bottles, maybe one to pour into but a gallon takes up less room. I am sure some of these are repeats from the thread but I am trying to brainstorm about what I take to the market with me. Pen and blank book for writing down things you may have forgotten and want to remember next time, taking notes of requests, notes about what is working, what is not and what you think you want to try next time. Little table tents to identify fragrance, info about methods of payment, etc... I do something that when folded is about postcard size. I think I do two up on a sheet but with a wide margin I trim. I have one about my candles, one about how to make your checks, and smaller (double business card size, folded to business card size) for fragrance tags. There... a little obsession session from the Queen of Too Many Thoughts in Her Head. aka HRH The Queen of deNile. (I have edited TWICE so far... sheeeesh... someone stop me)

I take bug spray and a little fan. A caculator. Stapler and zip strips - they are the fasteners that you pull through to lock - these are great for tarps. In case of wind - weights for the tent. Safety pins. Tape, business card holders. Extra change. I also bring my "for deposit only" stamp for checks just in case. I lock an extra 50 singles in my glove box. this is all in addition to what others have written. I keep everything in a 12 x 12 box. I tape my list to the inside of the lid of my cash box. This way I check it everytime I have a show. Also, take the list with you to the show and modify it then and there or you will forget what you forgot . I also came up with a little cheat sheet that I taped onto the top of the cash box that figured the with tax prices for the most common purchases. This is something that you will learn. I work in 2 different sales tax zones so this way I always have the right one handy.
