No fuss - No muss Oatmeal Bath

2 cups regular oatmeal (not the quick cook or instant type) 1/2 cup cornstarch 1/2 cup lavender buds heat-sealable tea bags or muslin bags with drawstrings In food processor or blender (I use my coffee bean grinder) grind oatmeal & lavender buds together until they become a fine powder. Combine all oatmeal, cornstarch & lavender in a bowl & mix well. Spoon mixture into tea bags or muslin bags and seal shut. (I put two heaping tablespoons into each bag). To use - simply drop one bag in tub as you are filling the tub with water. The bags will release all of the goodies without any of the mess! Discard the bag after use - they're only good for one bath each. These oatmeal bath bags can also be used as soothing washcloths for someone with irritated skin - simply wet the filled bag and then use as a washcloth. Lisa

Oh this sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing. I think I will make this for my friend as a thank you for the lavender she gave to me. I might include some epsom salts and some powdered milk too.

What perfect timing, I was just looking at all my heat seal bags and thinking oatmeal/lavender, and here you pop up with it all measured out! I wouldn't have thought of the cornstarch.

Thanks Robin When I first started experimenting with oatmeal bath bags, I tried making it with and without the cornstarch. I liked the end results with the cornstarch far more. Seemed to add a nice silky feel to the skin. Also, a few of my customers that have severe skin problems find that the combination of cornstarch and oatmeal helps to alleviate some of their discomfort. During the experimental phase, I also tried dead sea salt, baking soda & milk. But the best combo (for me anyhow) seemed to be the recipe above. Lisa

Sigh, I'm seeing a LOT more time in the tub for research. Hmm, taking my laptop w/ it's wireless connection into the tub? Probably not the best idea

So Lisa - you mentioned this can be used with muslin bags, are talking about the same ones that are being used for the corn cobs? Thanks - Crystal

Thank you - I just happen to have all of the mentioned... this might be a good starting point to try some of the B & B products.. I appreciate you posting this.. I see that you are in Washington - where are you at - I probably have already asked you that.. but turning 40 this year did something to my memory

I just have to try this. I don't do B&B, but this sounds like something I could do (just for myself).

lavender buds can be found at www.brambleberry.com and also at www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com Lots of other places too - but these two are the ones that come to mind right now. And yes, you absolutely can leave these out of the oatmeal bath I use it mainly for the scent. You can also use rose petals, chamomile or just plain ole' powdered milk & powdered honey for an "oatmeal milk & honey" bath. Hth, Lisa

I know this post is old but I just now had the chance to try this recipe and it is soooo easy. I can't wait to start testing . I don't have any of the lavendar buds so I added some of the powdered milk so I will see how it goes. Lisa thanks again for the great recipe.

I used this yesterday and I love it. I am going to order some lavendar buds I bet that makes it smell wonderful. It will be hard to sell these. I'm sure I will keep at least one out of each batch.

Lisa 1, I'm assuming tea bags will work fine. Question for anyone that's used WSP tea bags, I ordered some awhile ago but haven't used- until now question is how do I seal them- w/ an iron? One thing I don't like is 1/2 their products do not come w/ direction (for people like me ). Also I like the idea of honey powder, where would I get it and what are its benefits? I was thinking of adding Peaches and Coconut FO as another combo to make Coconut, Milk & Peaches (or does everyone suggest I keep it all-natural?)
