Oh...I so want to try this!!!!! Question on fillers...what is a good amount of exfoliants to use in a 2lb batch of cp so that it's not overly exfoliant (ie harsh!)? TIA - Jen

Will depend on what it is. They can get pretty scrubby pretty fast! I usually start at 1 teaspoon ppo and then change it up or down. Some powders I might do 1 tablespoon ppo.

I'm wanting to try soaping. Went to the grocery and the only health food place in town and no Palm oil that I could find> Does anyone know what I could sub or what whould be a good shea butter recipie to start with. Love shea and have some I could use, but need a detailed recipie to start with. Oh, I also couldn't find Rice Bran oil or Caster. Will have to order some things if I like this, but what to try it first with what I can get ahould of.

Great tutorial Robin. I almost have some courage to make some soap. I need to read your instructions a few hundred more times. I don't know why I'm so scared to make soap. You can hand me a drill and I will drill through glass blocks and saw through wood but give me bath and body ingredients and I'm scared. lol Also, I haven't read anywhere how much dye to add to make the soaps? Right now I have some mica that I can use and I also have the same cheapie dyes that Kara Lynn said she used which I can use until I buy better ones from MMS. Can you tell me how to figure out how much dye to use whether it be powder or liquid? thanks

Nope, ya just gotta try and swear at it when it doesn't turn out Micas that I use in a swirl I probably use 1/2 t to 3/4 cup of soap maybe - depends. Liquid dyes are trickier, because they can change color on you because of gel and because of the pH of the batch.

Thanks for the info Robin. I've got several books on how to make soap, but I've never done it yet. After reading your instructions I will now.

Hey Robin. Your tutorial is awesome on the cp soap making. I have one question about the colors. I see you holding it up and pouring it in after trace. My next dumb question is, do you have to mix the color with something to get it in liquid form or do you use liquid coloring? I told you it was a dumb question. I have made a couple batches of non-colored crockpot soap. I really don't like the texture of it. Too rough looking. Thanks and sorry to bother you, but you seem to be the queen of soap.
