A sticky thread on our host's FOs in bath and body products. Name, product tried in, and any hints, cautions. We've done it before, but lets stick this one. Maybe Alan has something else up his sleeve, we can take this down when he publishes his formal list... Cold Process Soap: Rose Bouquet: keeps its lovely fresh scent. Doesn't morph, accelerate, or change color Green Tea: no problems Spiced Cranberry: no problems Mango & Papaya: separated. May work if you keep temps down and take finicky FO preparations. Smelled wonderful (sigh) Edited on 2/5/5: Eugenia summarized all these results up through page 4 - thank you! I'll assume all these are CP - if you want to try a "No Good" one, double check for posts to see if anyone found a way to make it work. Good: Almond Pastries Apple Blossom Asian Sandalwood Baby Powder Black Canyon* Blackberry Sage* Cabernet Grape Canteloupe Cherry Clean Cotton Cool Citrus Basil Country Garden Country Heather Cucumber Melon Eucalyptus Leaf Freesia Fresh Linen Fruit Slices Gardenia Gigner Passion Green Clover & Aloe Green Tee Hyacinth* Jamaica Me Crazy Jasmine Keylime Lavender Lemon Pound Cake Lemongrass Sage Lilac* Love Spell Mandarin Plum Midsummer Night* Moonlight Path - CP @3/4 oz ppo. No accel. Mountain Lake Ocean* Patchouli - CP 1 oz. Plumeria Red Currant Rose Bouquet Spiced Cranberry Spring Rain* Strawberries & Cream* Strawberry Kiwi Sugar Plum Berries Sunflower Sweet Pea Tall Grass Tuscan Nights (at .5 oz ppo, accelerates) Vanilla Hazelnut Vanilla Mint Warm Apple Pie Wild Raspberry * take precautions No Good: Blueberry Muffins Coconut Milk Crème Brulee French Vanilla (fades @ 1 week w/ 1 oz) Georgia Peach Juicy Pineapple Mango Papaya Mediterranean Fig Orange (plastic smell) Pomegranate

Asian Sandlewood in cp~great. No morphing, no color changing, seizing or separation.. Ocean in cp~this one separated a bit and tried to seize. I mashed down the chunks it made, and it ended up soap after all. Scent is still strong and true!! Love Spell mixed with Strawberry in cp~morphed a bit, I'm thinking it was the strawberry. No discoloration, and no seizing or separation. Lemon Pound Cake in cp~Great so far...No color changing, no seizing, no morphing and no separation. Will know more about this one, when I un mold it though. (it's my GM soap) That's all I've done for the time being. Plan on doing LOTS more with-in the next 2 weeks...

The following reports are from some of our customers that tested the specified fragrance in CP soap. Green Clover & Aloe - Tested at .7 oz. ppo in CP soap. No acceleration of trace, no discoloration, no scent-morphing. Red Currant - Tested at .7 oz. ppo in CP soap. No acceleration of trace, no discoloration, no scent-morphing. Scent has remained strong & true throughout the cure time. This is a fantastic scent for soap. One may be able to use less FO per pound of oils if a lighter scent is desired. Pomegranante - Not suitable for CP, morphed. Creme Brulee - Not suitable for CP, morphed, and discolored to a dark tan. Coconut Milk - Not suitable for CP, morphed. Ginger Passion - Tested in CP soap. Performed great. There has been no discoloration, nor did the batches seize, rice, or accelerate. The scent is pleasant and strong. Lavender - Tested in CP soap. Accelerated trace. Scent stayed nice and strong with no dicoloration. Edited to add additional results: Sweet Pea - "Behaved nicely, no acceleration, no discoloration so far. The scent seems light, but maybe Sweet Pea is a light scent anyway". Jasmine - "No acceleration, no discoloration, strong scent after gel". Baby Powder - "Possible slight acceleration, it seemed to thicken a bit faster than the part I took out for a swirl, but nothing major. I did a pretty good water discount also (39% lye solution), so with full water it should not accelerate at all. So far no discoloration, went through gel already."

Apple Blossom-pale yellow color, used 1 oz ppo, slightly warmed, no problems. Soap has not cured yet. Smells great. Wild Raspberry-pale yellow color, used 1 oz ppo, caused separation but not really bad. Was definitely the scent as the colored unscented portion was fine. Never reached more than a very light trace, in the oven right now (CPOP). Will keep you posted. FO oozed out and soap is very soft. FO is absorbing back in. May be OK for CP with precautions. Spring Rain and Lilac-pale yellow, no problems at all. Fruit Slices-darker yellow,no discoloration, perfect soap! Lavender-no problems at all with CP. Note: used 1 oz for 2lbs. this stuff is strong and I heated in a mug of hot water before adding, had no acceleration. e

Spring Rain: no discoloration, accelerated trace, got rather lumpy. In the oven (CPOP) will keep you posted. Cabernet Grape: another winner form Peak's. Cut back on my hard oils to 50%. This was a very managable batch. Must note that this FO is very yellow and did discolor. We'll have to see how my purple turns out (what else could I pick for this scent ) Smells like a grape jolly rancher! I know some kids who'll love this one. e

vanillia mint in cp- no riceing or acceration. Lots of discolor, deep brown. But I swirled it with a nice green so it looks good.

Cucumber Melon (CP) - No issues doesn't smell like Cukemelon anymore, though will post on this as it cures. Smells the same - lighter after cure. No discoloration (I did use some light color). Lemongrass Sage (CP) - No issues, no morphing, smells really great, crisp and clean. And strong, baby strong. Whoa. I used 1oz. pp, probably could cut back on this. No discoloration (I did use some light color). Cherry (CP) - No issues, Strong as heck. Could do 3% (maybe less?) on this. Don't know if it discolored, though. I made mine red. Warm Apple Pie (CP) - Excellent in soap. Smells delicious. Colored to light tan (although I did use some color in the layers, so...) Mandarin Plum (CP) - No issues here. Don't know if I like the FO very much, but others said it smells great!! Plumeria (CP) - Smelled like burnt rubber bands when I added it. Scared me!! But smells fine, now. No problems, no discoloration. Rose (CP) - Excellent. No problems at all, smell stays true. No discolor from what I could tell. Jamaica Me Crazy (CP) - Did great.

Blueberry Muffins: IMO this scent is not really suitable for CP. It accellerated trace, riced, morphed (only slightly though) and discolored horribly.. I did a blue swirl in a very very light tan soap. The blue turned darker, and the tan turned a grayish purple.. This all happened within 24 hrs out of the mold... The scent might return, because it has slowly gotten better and you can now smell the blueberry in it.

Do any of you know if these FO's can be used in M&P base, salts, lotions, etc? Or all of you just starting to test in CP soap? TIA!!

| As long as they are skin safe (which these all are) they can be used in those bases. And of course it's always best to test...

Gardenia in CP - No acceleration of trace but a lot of ricing. I added this at very very light trace. I believe if I would have added it at a heavier trace it would have siezed completely. Just poured this 5 minutes ago, so don't know about morphing or discoloration yet. I will update upon cutting and curing...(If it survives~it did not look all that great in the mold, I may have to re-batch this one..)

Black Canyon - accelerated trace, discolored to a dark mustard yellow, no morphing yet. Hyacinth - tried to seize up on me, shoved it in the mold anyway, and it turned out good, except for a few air bubbles. No discoloration or morphing yet.

Plumeria in cp: Very nice, no morphing, discoloration, or acceleration. I used 1 ounce in 3 pounds for a subtle fragrance. It's through the gel stage but I haven't unmolded yet. I'll update later.
