I don't understand why you see pies, etc...... made out of gel; yet when you go to Peak's and alot of other places, all you see are a few fragrances that are non polar and they are certainly not pie scents! Where in the world do you find them ? TIA Jennie

Hi Jennie, many suppliers do carry gel safe food scents, especially the ones that focus on gel products. If just so happens that Peaks does not carry the many that are available that are formulated for gel. Do a Google search on gel safe frags and you should be able to come up with quite a few. Wendy

Don't know if I'm aloud to promote this but I know you need help and cloudy gel is a real problem. I used to use all scents from Biomax. They have a website and all scents are gel safe.

Hi Jennie, just wanted to add, no matter where you get your frags from pls. do a polarity test on them to ensure they are indeed non polar. Wendy

Just a note, Biomax tests all of the scents for you and she will assure you that they are gel safe.

N1020 even if she does test them you should always test them yourself and you should always test again when you reorder. Just to be safe.

Sure you can test them yourself, spend all the time testing, testing, and testing again. Never can be tooooo safe. What is the point of the supplier testing them.

The reason being was I have in the past gotten FO's that was suppose to be non polar and low and behold they was polar. I was not happy and I could not get my money back but at least I had not put it in a candle thinking it was safe to use. And don't tell me at boimax that it can never happen because I got 10 samples in one time from them and 2 where polar. So it can happen to all supplier that is why you should always check and it only takes a 30 minutes out of your time to do it. To me that is a well spent 30 minutes.

Have to agree with Vickie, we are a supplier and unfortunately we have had an instance where we were sent the wrong formulation and the fragrance was mistakenly sent out prior to our testing. (Miscomunication between employees, they thought I had tested the drums, now they are clearly marked tested and ready to go). Mistakes happen and as many checks as possible along the way never hurt. We randomly pull all our products over time and test, our frags, our candles, our waxes etc. Quality management saves in the long run and creates less problems down the road. Wendy

I make all my embeds and pie crusts. I only scent my gel in the fruit smell and all my crusts are scented pie crust, that way when they burn, the two scents mix and they have the pie smell. That way you don't have to find a lot of pie scents that are gel safe. just fruit ones.

I'm new to gel, and just out of curiousity, what would happen if you used non-gel-safe fo's in gel?

Non polar fragrancing will not chemically bind or mix with gel either immediately or separate over time and pockets may form of straight fragrance. This may cause a flareup during the burning process which could be potentioally dangerous. (Non polar fragrancing may often appear cloudy in a gel candle as well which is not cosmetically appealing.) It is important the fragrances have a flashpoint of over 170 degrees and are non polar in nature. HTH Wendy

Thanks Vicky! Also, if it matches those criteria does it also have to say gel-safe or does those two things automatically make it gel-safe? Does that make sense? LOL
