Weak flame mid-jar

Im hoping someone can help me.  Im trying to wick a 16 oz apoth jar with palm wax.  I double wick these jars.  At first it will burn great.  Even on the 2nd & third burn it will be fine....but when the wicks hit mid jar they become very weak.  If I try to wick up one then the flame height is way too big.  Also after it hits this point and I burn it again -its then fine & goes back to normal.  Just weak during the mid jar point.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  I have used RRD, CD, HTP's, & every single wick does the same thing.  Help!

Personally, if it gets the job done, I don't think I would worry about it.  If it is catching up and burning properly the rest of the way down, it wouldn't bother me.

I agree with Kerry that if it eventually burns fine, I wouldn't worry about it either. But I can understand your desire to have a better burn. If it does continue to bother you, you can try another wick that you haven't tried before to see if it makes any kind of a difference. Have you tried cotton wicks? They are supposed to be one of the hottest burning wicks and just might make a difference.  Huh

What is happening is you are just hitting a point in the jar where the flame is not getting enough air as long as it is not going out and is just doing that at that one point but coming back a burn or 2 later I would leave it alone also.

One thing with palm I could not stand was getting the wick perfect, then after some time, that wick was now too small  Lips Sealed
Palm hardens the longer it cures. Good gawd I have palm candles that would barely burn a circumference the size of a quarter after 1 year. I don't know if this is the situation in your case, but at least keep it in mind.
Pour a palm candle and wick with your selected wick. Go back and test burn it again in a month and periodically after that. Not such an issue if the customer burns it right off but sitting on a store shelf for a while before a customer buys it and burns it may become one.

I'd be interested in hearing other's stories on palm wax test burns over time.

This I did not know.  What a pain.  So what would work now wouldn't work later?  Hmmm, now that is a wicking dilemma even the best would have trouble with.  I guess if this was the case, palm containers should have an expiration on their shelf life thenHuh?
