I have had candles, sweat and get oily, but never a huge bubble like on a pizza pie!! My wick completely disappeared! Both these candles swelled up, it has been pretty hot. I just zapped them with the heat gun and all was fine. Just thought it was weird!!

That is common for soy and some FO's. If you can find the wicks they burn great. The first time that happen to I freaked out. Right now I have about 6 FO that will do that regularly. Another thing to watch out for is don't let your candles freeze because some times really weird things happen when you burn them.

If you can find a replacement FO from another supplier, you will be doing yourself a favor. Lots of times you can find one pretty close that won't swell up like that. Creepy, huh? The ones I have had were a Citrus and Sage and a Mulberry. I have since replaced both of those, and don't have that problem any more.

This is the *same* thing thats been happening with me with three fo's. Would the heat/humidity have something to do with it? Cause it was pretty darn hot/humid in our house when I burned them. Then on a cooler day I burned them again and they reset just fine. I'm burning them now while it is still "cool" to see if they set up ok again. I'm getting frustrated!

I just opened the lids to check these before I sent them out in an order, which I always do just in case they got sweaty and crusty, so I can zap them. But I have never seen this happen before. I think it is due to the heat and humidity. It has been really hot and no rain! I put a bunch of fans in my candle room and the bubbles stoped popping up!! It was pretty cool looking! My kids wanted to pop them with their fingers!!! This is 100% soy wax and orange clove FO...FYI Hey Barefoot-- What weird things happen when soy freezes??

Okay here are some of the weird thing that have happen I had some cherry candles made at the same time a girl friend took one the rest I put in my shop, she forgot the candle and left it in here car for 2 days in the middle of winter took in the house and burned it she called me up and said the wicks are gone I had her bring the candle to me and I grab one of the other ones up and burned it and it burned fine, hers had califlowered up around the wicks after the first burn. I have had soy that froze tunnel, all the sudden the wick was to big. I have had them drown. Each time it I have been lucky enough to have an additional candle that never froze but made in the same batch on hand to burn and all the ones that didn't freeze burned fine just like my testers. Soy is not a stable wax. I have less problems if I add BW but even I wonder if just adding BW is enough to stablize soy out.

WOW!! I will have to remember to tell people not to leave their candles in their cars in the winter. I always tell them that now cuz it is summer and people tend to "forget" that they can melt Thanks for sharing your stories!! Any information is always helpful!! Karen

Don't be fooled into thinking the odd occurrances happen only to one type SOY wax... I use EcoSoya135 (and have more than 4 yrs) AND have had candles "grow" -- even when they were not frozen. Some jar candles were pointed out (at a shop I have candles in) that the wick were too short... When I looked at them, the wax had grown and was beginning to bury the poor wick! I've also had candles - stored in my basement - grow in the same way... All across the top and just up! (NOTE: I did have one that rose above the container height.) They burn well - even if you've got the teeniest of wick to light - and there are no weird affects... JUST GROWTH..!!! Freezing, at least for mine, gives me tons more frosting and crustacians..........

I have never seen this happen.Unreal.I use 100% soy wax.Sometimes in the heat the tops get a little rough looking but the heat gun takes care of that problem.

I have the growth problem with EcoSoya as well. DH has taken it upon himself to routinely inspect jars for growth as he enjoys working them back into shape, as he puts it. They still burn fine .

I've also noticed how the soy wax "grows" in the heat and humidity. It's very strange. Kinda like it swells up. A couple that I had packed away had some growth spots. And I had one of the heart dishes from walmart that was left from Valentines day that I left out. That puppy swelled right up.

I had a candle once expand on me to the point that I couldn't even put the lid back on. I even posted pictures of it in this forum. It was so weird. It only happened that one time and yet the other tester candle that I poured at the same time, same wax, fo, everything burned beautifully. Now, on a funny note, and this is not intended to offend or hurt anyones feeling, but I think your candle looks like a diaphram. LOL But that's better than what my candle looked like - it looked like something the cat vomitted up. LOL
