Wax hang up

I was curious if anyone else has a problem with wax hang up and votives. I use EcoSoy PB and have settled on 44-24-18 cottons. I find that they HAVE to be in a very snug fitting container or else I get wax hang up and a slightly weaker flame. I have been testing various containers and the snug fitting ones work great but if I use any that have a little space around the votive, that's when I get a little hang up. I'm just nervous that when people buy the votives, that they will use a container that isn't perfectly snug. I of course will advise them of the proper container to use. I am debating on trying another wick? Any suggestions would be great. Since I use the 44-24-18 cottons, something very similar would be good. I've never tried RRD wicks and wouldn't know where to start with them. I've tried HTP, but wasn't too fond of the "curl". I found it made the melt pool too unever then I had a large lip on one side. The thing is, my votives with the 44-24-18 work wonderfully as long as a very snug holder is used. Do you guys think I should start playing around with a new wick or should I not wreck a good thing. I'm just curious if a similar type wick would burn better (less hang up) when used in a more "spacy" votive holder. Sorry this was so long everyone, but I'm quite confused as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

I, too, use the Ecosoya PB.  When selling my votives, I put one on display in a snug fitting votive holder to show my customers the recommended votive holder to use.  I explain to them that the votives burn best when used in this type of votive holder and that they may experience hang-up if they use one which leaves more space around the candle.  I also offer the votive holders for sale along with my candles.  I've tested and tested wicks and after finding one that burns so well when using a snug-fitting votive holder, I hesitate to change wicks.  I personally would not want to "wreck a good thing" as you said.

I also liked the 44 cotton. I did notice that in one of my tests I used a container that was not real snug. And there was hang up on the first burn but the second burn and third were real good. I guess 'cause the first burn filled up the space! I also use and like very much the LX wicks for votives. I use from LX10-18, depending on the FO.

How do you find the LX 18 to work for the votives?

It works real good for the FO's that need that big of a wick. But very few need it that big.
