Firestarters with pinecones?

Does anyone make the firestarters using the pinecones?  I've seen several types with saw dust or dryer lint and wax, but looking for instructions on using the pine cones.  Do you just wrap a wick around the cones and dip the cones in wax a few times?  Is it best to use the muffin liners and stick the cone in with wax?  Any suggestions would be great!!!  Thanks!

I made some with pine cones, but I was not completely happy with them.  I poured scrap soy wax into the wells of a muffin pan, dropped a pine cone in it, and inserted a wick.  They did not work very well, so next batch will be different.

I've seen recipes where one puts small wood chips, or acorn shells on bottom of muffin pan, insert wick into the bottom, fill with wax, then set the pine cone in it.  I've seen recommendations to dip the pine cones in wax two or three times before setting into the muffin pan.

I even made some with pine needles.  I spread them out on a baking sheet, and poured wax over them to the top of the sheet, about 3/4 inch thick.  After cooling, I cut them into squares with a pizza cutter.  They did not work well either,  but I'll figure out something that will work.

I have large pinecones and I just dipped them several times into wax till nicely coated. I didn't put a wick on them, it isn't necessary. They looked so nice that most people just bought them for air fresheners! I have seen a recipe with cedar shavings that you buy for pet mice or hamsters. Muffin tins filled with that, and scented wax poured over.
