Here is a wedding basket for my cousin who is getting married in 2 weeks..firgued I would give you all a sort of step by step for those who want to make baskets and don't know how.

First: get basket/container whatever..line with tissue paper(big lots is cheap), add shredded paper, newsprint(without ink), packing paper. Cover with tissue to form a firm full base(if it is not firm heavy items will sink)

Next: add your colorful shred, excelsior etc.. I use natural most of the time..other good ones to carry are ivory and white.
It does not have to cover every inch..as you will have products in there covering it up..but make sure there is enough to tuck in between produts..and behind ..so when you turn the basket around the back looks as nice as the front. Wink

Now time for products..larger/taller in back.. shorter in front..also try to create height.. that makes the value look higher. if you need to ballup tissue and put under something and cover with shred do it..and sit the product on that..use clear packing tape or glue dots to secure prodcuts to each other so they don't fall all over..OR wedge items between each other so they don't move around..I only had to tape 3 items in this basket.

add enhancements..flowers, ivy, etc.

Now it is time to wrap this puppy up..use cello bags or cello rolls bags are easy..keep a few sizes on hand.. and if you go cello rolls..make sure you have it wide enough...to cover the sides..OR you can have things sticking out..some of my best baskets had enhancements like flowers sticking out of the cello on the sides.

keep it tight and even..gather in center and secure with twist tie. adjust as needed..then start with one side and fold neatly and tape over and around back as close to the bottom as you can..then tuck and tape flap at bottom..repeat on other side.

pull top up and even and cut off scraggly excess so it is nice and even.

ok..last time to add a big beautiful bow..not curly ribbon.. Tongue You can get large rolls of wired pretty ribbon at cosco, sams, big lots, walmart etc.. even nashville wraps, can creations..etc..

bowdabra can help you make bows if you are bow challenged..I do it both ways..by hand is hard when you are using multiple types of ribbon. bowdabra comes with a video to help you. Best investment I made besides a presto pot..oh and my glue gun..anyway. tie it around and whaaaaalaaaaa. Gift Basket! Just needs a card. Grin

Rachel, The step by step is wonderful for those of us suffering from basketitis.  I'll need to print it out and study it for a while but I do have a question.  Are the picture frame & book inside the cello or sticking out?  If they are inside how in the world did you get the cello bag so smooth on those sides of the basket?  Thanks for taking the time to photgraph the process.

If it's for a wedding, I think a nice white or silver basket would look nice.

Only the very corners are sticking out.. I did not have wide enough cello..but it is all neat and smooth so you can't tell until you walk up to it. I like it like that anyway..I was going to add a cream floral swag but I could not find one I liked to add to it.  Undecided..even with cello wrap you can get smooth sides..you just have to neatly fold and tuck. to get it where you want it. Wink

I would have..and usually do for other peoples baskets but this would not have matched the wedding NOR would they have liked it..the are more natural people and the items I chose match the house they will be in.
