Hey everyone, I was just starting gather up some votives and my clamshells and realized that I had not yet thought about how to store my votives. I plan on selling them in approximately 1 months time and was wondering if anyone had ideas for storage. I do plan on getting votive boxes in the future but what are some other storage methods. Do they need to be enclosed in boxes or can they be put on shelves out in the open. I have tons of shelf space but wasn't sure if maybe keeping individual scents grouped together in some type of box was a better idea. TIA!

I always wrap mine to keep the scent in. They will mix if you put them altogether. You also have to be careful what you wrap them in. Some remove the scent. I have had that happen. Anything made of polyethelene (I used to be able to spell it!!) is 'bad' and polypropalene (sp??) is good. I use saran wrap (only the original) and Sam's Club cling, and cellopane. Did I give you more than what you wanted??

Thanks very much for your replies I never thought of individually wrapping them, that's a great idea. Since I don't have too much room, my mother in law suggested that I could get a bunch of shoeboxes and put them in the boxes and label the outside of the box (putting in one scent per box only). Do you think that would work or is there any sort of problems with cardboard and scent? I don't have too much room and thought being able to stack boxes would work. Let me know what you guys think, and if its a bad idea, I'll probably just have to wrap them individually then. I just don't have too much room to store

Now that I think about it, if I don't individually wrap the votives, will they loose their scent?? Now I am all worried about it LOL.

| They won't loose the scent if you don't wrap them individually.

I would store them in plastic shoe boxes with either: Polypropylene (PP) or Vinyl (Polyvinyl Chloride or PVC) on the bottom. You'll find that most storage containers are polypropylene (5-PP). Keep each scent in a different box because they will absorb other scents. Here's a good link about the different types of plastics.

There's the right spelling!! I should say I dont always wrap them individually, but according to scent. Those plastic boxes are a good idea.

I found plastic boxes (with lids) on sale at Target for .99 each. They are a little bigger than a shoe box and work perfectly for keeping votives and tarts in. I only wish that I bought more while they were on sale. Wal-Mart has them too for a little more than a dollar.

I haven't done any votives as of yet. I sure have lots and lots of tarts that I made with the wax that was left over from the test candles. I wrap 2 of the same scent together in the 3 3/4" X 6" clear small bages that I got from Hobby Lobby. It doesn't say on the package if it's polypropylene or not. Does anyone know if those bags are alright to use? After I bag the tarts I store them in the shoe boxes that I got from Big Lots for $ .79 ea. they have the # 5 on the bottom. Is it alright to store them all together onces they have been bagged in the same shoe box?

| If those bags are for candy/food, they are most likely cellophane. Cellophane will not "suck" the FO out of the wax.
