Is this time of the year a bad time to try and sell to the local florist and gift shops. I would like to to let people know about my soy candles but not sure if it would be a waste of my time to start going to some of the local shops.

I believe that there is no bad time.  I went out this winter and did some selling right after Christmas.  Alot of people don't spend that much because they are recovering from Christmas but I did it anyways.  I came home with one wholesale account.  And a maybe from one other place.  $ months later the company that gave me a maybe referred me to some other people who bought about $75 worth of retail products. Yeah, I know it's not a huge order but it does add up.  It will take sometime to get your name out there but I would start working at it now.  Good luck

have you noticed that most people do not burn candles in the summertime because all doors and windows are open.. over 30 years of buying candles and I can only remember burning some tarts one summer day about 15 years ago...
your margin in sells should be quite higher in the fall-spring months...now thinking logically!!!!!!!hmmmmmm.
