I have some 100% soy container candles ready for sale and I want to include burning instructions with them. So, what do I need to include. I know trim the wick to 1/4", don't leave unattended, watch for drafts. Isn't it burn 1 hour for every inch diameter for first burn? BTW I do have warning labels on the bottoms of the jars. TIA

The best burning tips I've read for soy candles are on the Ergo Candles site.

This is what I put on my candles: How to Properly Burn your Soybean Candle 1. When you light your jar candle for the first time, burn for at least three hours, or until the melt pool completely stretches across the top of the candle. This first full burn will set the candle’s memory, and will help prevent wick tunneling in future lightings. 2. Each time after the first lighting, always burn until the candle liquefies to the edge of the container. Not letting the candle liquefy to the edge also results in tunneling. 3. You may notice some mushrooming of the wick; this is completely normal for natural wicks. Be sure to trim wick after it cools to ¼" each time to avoid burnt smell, high flames and soot (do not leave the trimmings in your wax; discard them appropriately in the garbage.) 4. Some frosting or small holes may form after candle has cooled; these are true characteristics of natural soybean wax and will not affect future lightings. 5. Caution: Hot wax burns! Also keep burning candles away from children and pets. 6. Place all burning candles on a flame-resistant surface. 7. Burn candles for no more than 4 hours at a time; never leave a burning candle unattended! 8. Do not burn candles that have less than ½" of wax on the bottom of them It’s recommended that you extinguish your candle by bending the wick over into the wax with a wick dipper. This will eliminate smoke and prime your wick for the next burn. Always re-center the wick right after extinguishing candle for proper burning the next time you light your soybean candle. ENJOY!! HTH

I use an index card as my tag- I fold it in half like a book. I have my logo on the front of the card, inside of the card I put all the instructions listed above using font-Arial Narrow and size-8 (6.5 below instruction # EIGHT). Then on back the benefits of soy and reorder info!
