Has anyone ever gotten prices or bought directly from IGI or Astrolite?

I believe buying directly from them you have to buy by the pallet, and I dont have anywhere to store that much wax, nor do I have that much money!

I emailed IGI in Ontario, and they don't sell direct. They just gave me the names of their distributers.

I have a few people local that I we have made a group for candle creators and we were talking about what it could possibly cost per case and or shipping to get wax direct. Of course we have to decide if we can all use the same stuff.

Since you're just starting out, I sincerely doubt that you'll be able to utilize a pallets worth of wax (don't think it would be a smart idea, either) but you can certainly benefit from purchasing more than 200lbs. at a time, that way you can get 'hundred weight discount' on your UPS shipping, it can really save a lot on shipping. HTH.

Judi, when I checked with Astrolite you had to buy a pallet which is 2000 lbs. Didn't ask if it could be a mixed pallet. If you get 20 folks lined up it's just a couple of cases per person.

When Astor had a Norcross, GA distribution site, the minimum order was $2500.00. Have no idea as to what weight would be....this was on Astors website under 'new at Astor' or 'press releases' or something along this line. Good luck, Donna

I haven't purchased a pallet before, but others who have said that you have to have a way to unload it from the truck. Somebody help me here..... Something along the lines of it coming in a huge truck and you needed a dock to unload it or needed a forklift or something like that. Just something to think about. DanaE

yes...if your order a pallet, you will have to be able to have it delivered to a dock with a forklift, and it wil be delivered by tractor trailer (maybe a pup, like 30', or a 40' or 53 footer, you won't have a choice). You may possibly be able to pick it up at the freight lines dock. Say it was trucked by Consolidated...you can contact them and ask them to leave the shipment at their dock, then you would have to (promptly) come with a truck(s) and load it by hand.

I buy pallets of hardgoods and other things from one of the home shopping networks. They deliver it to my home. I have to tell them it is a residential delivery and pay a little extra. Some times it comes on a pup and they can get it in my yard close to my shed. Last Friday it was delivered on a 53' trailer. I had to unload it by the street. I drive my truck to the back of the trailer and unload into it. If you get a pallet delivered to your home you have to be prepared to unload it. Drivers are only responsible to tailgate the load. Meaning set it on the end of the trailer where you can get to it. There is always 3 and some times 4-5 of us here to unload if I order 4-5 pallets. You want to be fast because those drivers always have more products to deliver. Most deliver to homes but like I said you have to be ready to unload it either with a fork lift or by hand. Wax sounds like alot of work but the savings just might be worth it. I should add. The truck has to be able to get on your street. I dont know how many times I've gone to deliver a boat following the directions I was given and there was no way. That is when it can cost you. Because now they have to take the product some where else and now days they charge for every move. I know with boats it could be very exspensive. If your not sure a truck will fit on your street have someone check it to make sure. I wouldn't guess at it.

I was told that an initial order of $2500 worth of wax is a minimum requirement to purchase directly.
