Wicks...

Need to know, if I tested my pillars with a pre-waxed wick with tab (manufacturer's wax/tab), and now want to use the raw wicking instead, do I have to retest my pillars, or will the burn be the same with the raw wicks?

I purposely used wick pins when testing, so I could easily change wicks, but now that I know what wick size to use, I would really like to just wick my pillars with the raw wicking...please say I do NOT have to retest  Shocked

Thanks again all!

I know! I know! Just thought maybe I would get lucky and someone had already tried this and it worked out OK.  Undecided  Looks like I will be ordering prewaxed wicks, since there is NO WAY I am going to retest all these pillars. Thanks for you reply.

They maybe the same type or size of wick but from one type (coated to raw or different manufacture) they could be sightly different. So it would be best to retest.

Raw un-coated wicks could loose their tension or become contaminated with moisture since they are not coated and not burn as good as a coated wick. IMO un-coated wicks should be stored in some kind of plastic (zipper bag etc.)to avoid them wicking any moisture in them.

Thanks Candleman!  Looks like I am sticking with the coated wicks.  I refuse to retest these pillars again! Only took me 6 months to get where I am today with the pillars...better stick with whats working.

wick pins are so much easier. I always had issues with getting the wick centered.
