Yay, I came home last night and found that my sweet wonderful amazing husband had built me a three pound log mold, had to post it here because you people are the only ones who will share in my excitment, everyone else will just kinda look at me funny. Neways I've been playing around with sooz all morning because I found my last recipie to be a bit drying , Here is what I have. Tell me what you guys think. Hardness 32 Cleansing 9 Condition 65 (last one was 58,hope this will be much better) Fluffy 12 Stable 23 Iodine 75 INS 128 Ingrediants are as follows Castor Oil 5% Coconut Oil 13% Crisco 14% Palm 18% Olive 30% Soybean 15% Shea Butter 5% I wasnt sure on mixing the Crisco and Palm oil, as most people only seem to use 1 solid base oil, but considering crisco has palm in it, I didnt see how this could hurt, helped me get my iodine level down, bar would have been way to soft otherwise. Scenting this one lavender, and im going to attempt some swirls. I'll post pics of the soap and the mold as soon as the batteries for my digital camera actually charge.

I've come to realize that the conditioning number isn't always accurate for my skin type. For example, I was having lots of trouble with drying and itching. First, I lowered the coconut oil amount to get a higher conditioning number, but that didn't help. Then I switched to pko and that helped some. Then I switched from olive oil to rice bran oil for my base oil (because it's higher in linoleic acid, which is conditioning) and that really helped even though the conditioning number on the soap calc went down. It really depends on your skin. I would just play around until you find what works for you and take the calc with a grain of salt.

I know the excitement you are feeling. My husband built me two slab molds last night. Tried to do a fancy swirl in it but of course I messed up. For conditioning I pay attention to linoleic acid which by looking at your recipe you are at 21. In some of my recipes I try to be around 17 or higher.
