How much to display at shows

I've been mulling over this for a while now. I picked up 6 crates at Michaels yesterday because they were on sale for $5.50 instead of the normal $10.00. I was planning on tacking a shelf in the center so I could display my soaps and other things that way. I haven't decided if I want to do my candles this way or not. I've been wondering how many candles of each scent to display at a time. I'm only doing 10 scents for candles right now.. should I get a step display and put one of each out and pull one out of a box when someone buys one? Or do you put out more than that at a time? I'm having extreme difficulties trying to figure out how to display more than one of the same scent .. please help me

I like to have more than one of each kind out, so that people can tell at a glance it's cash-and-carry rather than taking orders or signing up for parties. Also, it makes it easier if they want more than one of each scent. Displaying can be difficult, depending how much room you have. The only good advice I can offer is to try it at home before the show in a lot of different ways. Sounds like you already know to use various heights as much as possible. Good luck on your show! I've done it a couple of different ways. A "designed" look, like it would look at home, with only 1-2 of each scent. Then with more - 4-5 of each scent. I like a massed look, where color and form draw your eye. So I don't do less than 4 anymore of an item. DH is designing a step for me that will hold 4 jars, 4 sets of pillars, and a votive box, all in the same scent.

I put one out of each scent in each size..I then sell off the table so the customer doesnt have to stand there and wait unless they want more then one of a scent. I then restock after they leave. I used to search and leave the one on the table till I realized that is silly..just keep the sale moving and restock later.

If I was a customer I would be more apt to buy from someone that had lots and lots of candles on a display. If I see a small table with a few candles, it would get me thinking that they are prolly not selling much or have not been making candles very long. If you have a nice big display, everyone knows you mean business. Bruce

Actually it's a proven fact in marketing displays that the more product you have displayed the better it sells.
