Need Rcp 4 CP or HP Sensitive Skin Soap

Hi all!  I am wanting to start doing soap and I want to make some for my husband who has super-duper sensitive, very easily irritated skin.  The slightest bit of fragrance or dye makes him break out like nobody's business...

I bought a bar of Pure Castille at a craft fair and so far its working pretty good.  Is this hard to make?

Any recipe for sensitive skin soap would be awesome!

Thanks!   Smiley

I just made a 3lb batch of soap.

38.4 oz Olive Oil
 4.8 oz Castor
 2.4 oz Coconut
 2.4 oz Palm Kernal Oil

12.7 oz distilled water
  6.35 oz Lye

At trace added, 1 oz Country Spice from Rustic Esscentuals, 1.1 oz safflower oil and 2 tablesspoons of Dead Sea Clay.

I read somewhere (maybe here) that anything that contains at least 80% Olive Oil is considered Castille. Also that you might want to discount the water to make curing time shorter and cut back on the slime that Castille's are known for.

Castile soaps wont get slimmey unless they sit in water. I make an unragranced castile soap and its been great for people that cant tollerate the fo in it. Go to kathy millers site and any of them are great.Lin

I would go with 100% olive oil, DWCP.  You could add 3-5% castor for a bit more lather.  I don't think there is anything milder than that.  It will take quite a while to cure, but it's great soap.

Definitely do not use any FOs or other additives that could cause sensitivity.  I would include any nut-derived ingredients in that list of no-nos.

Here's a popular one.
---------------------------------
Bun's Castile (2004)

90% - 32 oz. olive oil (the cheap stuff, not extra virgin)
10% - 3 oz. castor oil
4.50 oz. lye
10 to 12 oz. distilled or rain water (makes the lather much better than tap water does).

Do not heat your oils... use them at room temp. Mix the two together. Add your lye water as soon as the lye is fully dissolved and the solution is clear (no need to cool the lye solution, unless you are adding milk or honey to the recipe at trace... then you'd want that lye solution just cooler than room temp).

This recipe traces fast. Blend with your stick blender for about a minute, let it sit for a couple of minutes. Mix it again for a minute. This may be all you need to get thin trace, as it usually doesn't take over 10 to 15 minutes to get trace. Once it starts tracing, work with it fast because it will set-up quickly. That's why I always suggest putting in your scents, colors, botanicals, etc at very thin trace, so after you work that stuff in, it's still soft enough to pour nicely.
------------------------------------------------------

For your first batch, I wouldn't do DWCP (discounted water). Those are traditionally very deeply discounted, and should only be done by someone who's done soap before.  (A DWCP version of this would use 7 oz of water) 10 oz of water will be enough of a discount to speed up the curing time.

Thanks for all the replies.

Robin, what does discounting the water do for soaping?

Thanks

Discounting helps CP soap cure faster. Castilles are notorious for take a couple of months to harden up, lose their water. But it also introduces complications - soap can trace faster, and an FO that doesn't behave might "seize" more readily - think "soap on a stick". As you get more familiar with your ingredients, you usually start dropping the water amount.
there's some threads in the general discussion section on discounting water.
