Do you need any type of preservative in these?  How long is the shelf life?
TIA!!!

I don't use preservative in them, and I've had a dozen sitting on the shelf now for about 5 months now, and they still look good.  I toss one of them in the bath about every other month, and they still work well.

Cocoa Butter has a long shelf life.
No need for preservatives....
These puppies won't last long enough to need them   Cheesy

Here's what's on Nature's Apprentice's chart:

Cocoa Butter

INCI: Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter

SAP value is 193.8      Stability of Oil: 1 Year

2 questions on these Smiley

1: Does the tub need to be rinsed out after useing these? Does the cocoa butter leave a film?

2: Do you have to line your molds? Or will these pop out without the liners? I'd  like to try a few different shapes and some of my molds I know can't be lined. Would Pam do the same thing?

I put mine in some small soap molds that I got from Hobby Lobby and they work great. I haven't had any problems.

It did leave a little bit of stuff in my tub but it rinsed right off.

It can be purchased in the hair section at wal mart, but it's really expensive.  You could get 4 times the product for the same price at the link listed below for the same price including shipping at the link below!

Hi Ladies,

I met a nice lady at the TX Candlemakers convention this weekend who is trying to do these and she's really close, but doesn't like the film on top of it.  Hers has this thin layer of crunchiness on top.  I mentioned this post to her and invited her to try it, but I wondered if she has.  Has any of you experienced that?

Thanks Crystal!

The crunchiness on top I have found happen doing one or both of these..  If you put them in the freezer too long, the condensation that forms on the top once they are taken out causes the citric adic to fizz, causing crunchies.  Also, if your formula is too liquidy or hot when you mix the citric adic, crunchies again!

Can you use plastic candy molds for these?  Do they need to be lined?

I made a half batch of these this weekend (without the cocoa powder)!!!!!   Grin  I so wish I could test them, but I don't have the time, so a coworker will be testing them.

I used a mini muffin tin, no liners, so pam spray.  dh got them out.  I think he just turned it over and banged on it a couple of times.  None of them broke or crumbled.

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!  I've got people just dying to try them Smiley
