I'm trying to design a mug soap for my neighbor, but he has very specific requirements...

Don't have an exact recipe, but bentonite clay is usually added - that gives a nice glide. I'm testing adding a teaspoon of glycerin per pound because he wants lots of glycerin in his soap.

I'm basically using my standard recipe and adding some of those things. Maybe a bit of cocoa butter to get some smaller thicker lather instead of the big bubbles.

Coconut milk makes a lovely dense lather.  A mild clay will add "slip".  So will silk.

It has water, the tea. Can't make bar soap without liquid. That's a regular lye soap recipe, so it would still need the curing to help with the lather and make it last longer. Though it's made directly in the mug, so it might be OK. It should have finished saponifying by then.

You can sub coconut milk for all or part of your water, add the lye directly to it.  It doesn't need the handling that animal milks do, so don't worry.  It will chunk up in the lye, but stickblending will smooth it right out.  It doesn't burn like goats milk so no need to keep it from gel.  You can add it at trace if you want, or you can use coconut milk powder and add that at trace.

I usually do a pretty steep water discount (40% lye solution) with water, then add a few ounces of CM with the oils.

Oh and make sure your CM doesn't contain guar gum, that will be a mess.  The ingredients should be only coconut, water and a preservative.

I have a soap recipe that calls for bentonite clay for slip and ground cinnamon to make the hairs stand up.  I made some and gave it out to friends to try.  They all said it is the closest shave they can remember.

Wax and a wick, what's so hard about that.

be careful when adding spices and herbs. they can make the razor dull. I made the one from To Die For , which calls for ground oatmeal, and that made the razor dull. Made it again without the ground oatmeal and it worked perfect.
