Just wondering if soy wax (the kind you make candles with) can be used in lip balms in place of beeswax. It would be nice to use for those vegan customers. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! peg

You can use soy wax in lip balm but you have to make sure it's pure soy wax without additives.

For vegans you can also use candelilla wax. It's harder than beeswax. If you're not sure about the contents of your soy wax, MMS has soy that can be used for both cosmetic and candles. Who knows where it comes from, it's probably one of the 100% soy vendors, but it might be a different "grade", dunno.

When your using soywax (the supplier i use sells a cosmetic grade soy for this purpose) do you still use the basic 1part 1part 1part recipie? or since soy wax is softer do you need to use more soywax then you would beeswax?
