Need Help with Rebatching

I made this great chocolate almond soap that traced in about 20 seconds. (I wasn't ready for that!) I tried to stuff it into my 3" PVC mold anyway, but when I unmolded it, it had tons of giant air pockets.  I've never rebatched before, so I don't know exactly what to do

I tried a search and found some pics of rebatched stuff but no 'how to'.

Thanks for any help anyone has.  Wink  I'll try to post a pic of my disaster when I get home from work.

you can shred up the soap and stick it into the microwave for a few minutes until it comes to the consistency of mashed potatoes.  If your batch is recent you wont have to add anything else.  If your batch is older, you might have to add some liquid to it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well, I guess the good news is I just made it last night.  I had some great swirly action going on so I'm bummed that i won't be able to preserve that, but will it still have that smooth creamy consistency after melting in the microwave?  or does it get chunky and grainy?

BTW, don't have a food processor.  Will the blender work? Or is there something else that can be used?   Thanks again.

The consistency will be more like mashed potatoes.

I cut mine up into very small chunks and melt in the crock pot with gm or tea. I take that opportunity also to add another oil like SAO. This works for me and my soaps are wonderful.

I have some rebatching questions so I'm bumping this back up!  I had a batch that I didn't add enough lye to yesterday so it was oily.  I recalculated the batch and added more water and a little more lye today (enough to get up to where it should be), now the batch is of course not as pretty as it was yesterday and has just a little bit of liquid seeping out the top (not really oily).  Could this be too much lye/water?  I really don't want to have to trash this whole batch.  Any suggestions?

Modified to add:
Could it be the humidity?  I didn't even think about that.  It was pretty humid yesterday and rainy today.

I've never rebatched and added lye. Sounds like a bad idea to me. How did you add lye after the soap was done? Are you talking about in a rebatch?

I would dump that soap to be on the safe side. With rebatching you're adding more water and maybe some FO, etc. NOT lye.  Undecided
