Citronella Lotion

Is is possible to just add some Citronella FO to a plain lotion base? I don't have any EO's just FO's. I have learned the hard way this last weekend what chiggers are and I'm miserable. Not that the lotion would help now, but as a preventative for the future. I don't want to experience this again! I know it stinks, but I'd gladly trade this itching for the stink right now. In researching this morning, I've seen recommendations for citronella lotion to repel them. I wonder too... about using another FO in combination to to take some of the stink out, but don't know if it's the oil that repels, or just the scent Everyone at work last night said it sounds like chiggers got me, but the Dr yesterday had no clue... figures Any hints, tips, advice, suggestions?? LOL And on top of spending all day at the Dr with him having no clue what these itchy spots are, and the shcok at the WalMart Rx register when I noticed the didn't run the presctiptions through my insurance... I had finally found cocoa butter at Walgreens and left it in my car while I was in there. Never do that when it's 90F outside Ok, I'm done now...LOL

I do a spray as well, using essential oils, but if it's any help, I blend the citronella with eucalyptus, lavender and patchouli for those who don't like the citronella smell alone.

I hate to hear that. Chiggers can get bad. My daughter got into them bad the other day will at work. When she came in I had her soak in clorox water to kill them. Then I made her Pamerme's recipe for the milk bath. I didn't scent. She soak in that that night & it helped so much. Anita

Yes, I have to say it works great. I starting making it originally, because my 3 nephews are highly allergic to insect bites but my sisters are very particular about what they use to protect them from insects. My DH works outdoors, also, and is always complaining about mosquitos, etc. His co-workers keep me busy for insect repellant alone.

I get my spray base from The Candlemakers Store, as well as the amber oval pet bottles and spray tops I use for it.
